Unearthing Croatia’s finest treat.

So truffles, right? By now most of us have realized that these fantastic fungi make almost anything taste better. Whether shaved, as sauces or infused in liquor, they have become ubiquitous amongst foodie circles. But, where do they come from? We headed to Istria – a large peninsula that juts out into the Adriatic Sea renowned for its truffles – to get to the heart of the matter.

There you have it, truffles from the field to the table. The pride of the dogs and hunters to the producers and chefs is overwhelmingly evident. To have been a part of the process and then feast on the fruits of their labor in a traditional Konoba, a style of restaurant found virtually across the entire Adriatic coast, was a truly exceptional experience.
