Experiencing the full Monti in Rome.
The neighborhood of Monti is just one of Rome’s many hidden gems. Visitors will make a point to see its famous landmarks such as the Colosseum and Santa Maria Maggiore Basilica, but often neglect the spaces between them. We soon learned that this was a big no-no. Monti is a neighborhood that has been growing over the past few years. The streets are lined with bars and restaurants, making a night out with locals as easy as getting lost in the shuffle. Don’t be afraid to chat with the pockets of people out to do the same. Silvia and Marco, friendly locals of the area, pointed us to the main square to start the evening. Have a beer or two, and watch the sun slip beneath a marble horizon. It’s in this way that you begin to dive into Monti’s urban nightlife culture. Be prepared for an evening chock full of street food, aperitifs, and great conversation, all with a stunning backdrop that only a city like Rome could provide.
